I was diagnosed with diabetes 12 years ago. Life became more complicated after that but I learned to deal with it. As I got older I became embarrassed by the things I would have to do to keep myself healthy. I didn't like the fact that I had to wear and insulin pump so I would try to hide the pump under my clothes. I didn't like the looks people would give me if they would see me test my blood sugar so I wouldn't test as often as I should. I didn't like having to excuse myself to go to the bathroom to give myself a shot of Insulin so I basically started to ignore my diabetes (not completely, but enough to make me not very healthy). That is all changing now! I will not be ignoring my diabetes. I wanted to do this in hope that I may be able to help someone else who may be struggling with dealing with diabetes everyday. I wanted to show that I may have diabetes but that doesn't stop me from living my everyday life. It might make things a little more complicated but not impossible. I can stay healthy and still live a normal life.
